Hey everyone! It's that time of year again for the High Country Help Center 3rd
Annual 4x4 Poker Run! Here's the info:
June 20th with registration starting at 8am (pre-registration required)
Uwharrie National Forest Badin Lake Group Camp (Site B)
Each hand is $20 - winner gets $100 and worst hand gets $50
Raffle is $1/ticket or $5 for 6 tickets
Cake/Pie Auction
Panning for Gems - $2/bag

Donations include 25% off gift certificates for Hi-Lift, Free Bed Liner Kit from
Herculiner, Backpacks and Travel Bags from Tom Wood's 4x4 Driveshafts, a picture
taken by Sandy Walker of Mayberry Mill, and hopefully more (times have been hard on
companies this year). I'm waiting to officially get something from Ergodyne
although they have given a verbal notification that they will donate.

Jims Gems and Gold is going to donate bags of gems that can be found by panning.
The gems will include quartz, amethyst, opals, gold flakes, sharks teeth and
more - the kids had a blast last year!

The Cake/Pie Auction will be limited to 10 cakes or pies that must withstand
warm weather. If you would like to donate, please email me and I'll add you to
the list.

Camping Fri night and Sat night is free courtesy of Mid-day Counseling. All
donations are tax deductible.

Any questions, just ask! Pre-registration is required email or call me -

We have some more info available -
Carolina Ridge Runners have donated a $50 gift certificate to Tom Wood's Custom 4x4 Driveshafts.
We also have T-shirts from All Things Jeep "Know Your Rearends".
The picture Sandy Walker has donated is of Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway and was shot in Black and White and is framed.

Please contact me if you're interested in doing the run!

The Eldorado Outpost is donating a meal for two to the raffle and the National Forest Service will be donating a season pass!

I hope things turn out great. I saw one weekend where the Stables was packed!

Cabela's has donated two deluxe gear bags and mini multi-tools with LED light.

There will be at least 3 stops on the trails. Depending on whether it rains or not depends on the exact route. Right now I'm looking at doing Falls Dam, Dickey Bell, Rocky Mount, SawMill, Slabpile, Wolf's Den as the route with stops at one of the mud pits, top of mini Daniel, top of Kodak, and Show-Off. That's a long route though and I'll need to give newbies a less time consuming route if it's muddy. So we'll see.

nice one Rob. No not at all. :shaking:
But we'll be sure to put your 1.6 liters of F-n awesome up front!
:driver:

and Hey I was over there (POR) this past weekend. I told James to come out too. should be a good time.

No racing. You still must maintain safe speeds. You can go whatever speed (allowed by the forest service) and trails you want to as long as you hit the stops before they pack up to head back to base camp. Hands have to be turned in by 4pm and stops won't be ready til 9am so you've basically got all day unless there is a disaster (which as we know can happen).

J/K on the racing, but was serious on the passing the slower vehicles. Sounds like a busy weekend, so speeds will probably be "busy weekend slow" anyway.

I cant race you Lorenzo, us Jap guys need to stick together!!!

Great, if James comes, maybe he can give us all lessons on how to "get it" since he is so awesome!!

See you guys soon....

Rob

So does this mean I need to put down Rob, Lorenzo and this James guy for attending? And if so, how many people each?

You can put down me and my 2 kids.

I will find out if James "Mcormicks- becasue he is so seasoned" Hall is coming. I should see him tomorrow. My wheeling buddy Steve-o will be out of town, but I am sure I can get a few others from down this way to go.

Is there a formal registartion/payment method, or do we register through you, then pay when we get there??

Thanks, and sorry for getting your thread off track!

Rob

You can pay when you get there. I will be there ready to go Friday afternoon so anytime then or it starts at 7am Saturday morning too. I just need #'s to let Deborah Walker know what we are expecting.

I may have one more jeep coming, and one backing out, he is unsure yet. anyway, sher you have my list and I will try and update it just before you leave, Most of the people are for sure, but I can not force them to come...you know how it is.
