Just bought a pop up. Looking for a place to go this weekend. Preferably with things for the kid to do. Tried Dan Nicholas but they are full. Anything not too far from Concord- Kannapolis area ?

Yogi bear is expensive and the koa in Asheville/swannanoa is nice but small.
A nice campground a lot closer to you is Cross Country in Denver. We camp there a lot.
I'm assuming your new to camping. Rookie mistake is to think you can get a spot on a holiday weekend. Most decent campgrounds are usually booked up about a year in advanced on holidays. Good thing about a pop up camper is you can set them up almost anywhere and most campgrounds usually have some spots that aren't to friendly for larger campers but perfect for a pop up.
I remember my popup days. They were great but the family just out grew it. This is what I have now.

Only pic I have on my phone of my camper what you can see of it.lol

My parents, sister & BIL & kids, and a couple other families go to rutledge lake a couple times a year. I have stopped by there 1 time on my way back from Harlan when they were there. Kids love it. Not much to do, but it is quiet. Nice place to walk or ride bikes. Lake to fish in or canoe. It is just outside of Asheville.

Green Mountain in Lenior
Zooland near Asheboro (and near the zoo)
KOA in Statesville is OK, check their schedule of event.

Also, look into FCRV (http://www.ncfcrv.com)

We actually live in our Motorhome full time and try to get out and away from Charlotte at least every month or every other month. Green Mountain and Outdoor World Williamsburg are our favorites but there are alot we have not been to as well.
