Many possibilities....
Hot plate under the table?
Fancy video editing most likely - see how crappy/jumpy the video is? That's 'cause it's probably only like 10 frames per second. You could easily film it at a reasonable rate, 30 fps or higher, then just quickly swap the kernel and popcorn, and remove the frames with te hswap (would only be a couple) then down-sample the rest of thr video to match it.

See if you can actually SEE a kernel pop open.
