Popping from front end.....97 XJ

whats your front sway bar setup? can the end of the swaybar be hitting the coils under certain steering angle and articulation conditions? Maybe there's some play in the endlinks causing clunking.
Sway bar is disco'd and its not hitting...Its been in the same position for a while now and has only recently starting doing it.

i bet its the ujoints popping. that or theres a slight interference with the steering system
I stopped by after work one day and took a look. Everything is tight that I could feel. I couldn't see any movement. the sound is not very loud, but you can hear it and feel it if you have a hand on the vehicle. a Popping U-joint could be it.

It definitely had me stumped as to what it could be. But Hey, I got a beer out of the visit so at least I have that going for me!

Ok well, I have been hearing the noise but not as much now...call me crazy, but it seems the further the distance is, that is when it happens... But something else that also has me stumped is seems here lately, whenever I hit an uneven part in the road (pothole, paved, vs non paved, etc) at slower speeds, it feels like something is loose in the front end....if I am going faster (35-45mph) and it hit something like that, it feels solid. Something in my front end just isn't right and it seems noone can figure it out. U joints probably need to be replaced soon, but don't know why that would cause my 2nd problem.

Know this is old but my 98 does the same thing it's definitely control arm bushings man easy fix but I've got long arms going on after this deployments over
