There's Trump haters all around us. Because of one person, they vote against Republicans. Have you ever gotten a legitimate reason as to why? How could a person not see beyond a face on TV or worse yet, not weed through the BS lies fed to them by social media, schools, pop music, etc?

This one hit close to home because a very close friend of mine has more or less completely written me off as a scumbag (via phone call) over one simple question that never gets answered.

There was a family I grew up across the street from. We were all very close. I stayed over there about as much as I did my own house. They had 2 girls and 1 boy. Great Christian family who’d do anything for you. The middle daughter became very successful as a lawyer. Just found out recently she too has written her entire family off because they voted republican and for trump. Guess that means I’m written off as well. Hard to believe someone could let political views get in the way of family and friends. I don’t give a shit who you vote for. I’ll probably pick on you and give you hell if I disagree but we can still be friends, wheel, and drink beer. People are stupid.

Apparently this brainwashing has been going on for decades and it starts in kindergarten. Then it is taught thru grade school, and by college they can't even consider other opinions or understand what freedom and America is all about.

Thought this thread would be about asking to put it in the butt. I’m @dissapoint

I don't ask. I just put it in there and hope I don't shit for it.

Social media and the internet has only exacerbated, amplified and expedited the exposure of ignorance. Not long ago, it took effort to want to be educated, you had to find information, vet information in its entirety and form your own opinion, thusly easier to tell people to stfu because you had legitimate facts. Now all it takes to form an opinion is a Huffington post link and/or a meme going viral. The ignorance levels haven’t changed, just the availability of (bad) information.

Oh...and I’d add society has become more concerned with feelings than logic. But I’ll blame the older generations for the coddling that grows with each generation. The hippies were like the preacher’s kid and it’s only gotten worse since then. But ask anyone, and I guarantee you, no one admits to raising a piece of shit kid.

^^^^I can get behind that 100 percent.^^^ @UTfball68

I actually have enjoyed the polar opposite of Obama for one very good reason. The Folks screaming loudest have finally shown the true colors of their nature. I realize the dude isn't polished and sometimes should maybe just not speak, but you know what? THATS the exact reason he got my vote. He isn't standard material.

My biggest revelation personal is how very far apart peoples values have become. More importantly the extremity at which people are willing to pervert a standard to fulfill a non-evasive compliance.

Bingo!

Give that man a cookie! Public education quit being about education and all about indoctrination many many years ago.
The snowflake generation is the result of that.

One could and should argue the school system shouldn’t be raising your kid anyway. Putting the onus back on parents to further educate and not raise piece of shit kids.

I agree .... all they should be doing is teaching them to read, write, add, subtract.
It's our (parents) job to teach them how to be a decent person.

I've noticed as the years progress, that political "discussion" becomes more emotion than ideas, and tends to get very combative. We've tried to axe it from the menu entirely for family gatherings, and yet it still pops up here and there. I don't understand why people can't leave well enough alone, and accept that we all have different outlooks and beliefs, and gather in a respectful and dignified manner. It's disappointing, and causes me to skip more family events than I attend these days, because it just isn't worth the stress of watching the same fights erupt time and time again. Oddly enough, it seems to be the older folks, and not the younger generation as I would expect, that do the instigating.

I pretty much quit facebook for the same reason, the prevalence of the same type of fights, and two-year-old style attitudes and pouting are ridiculous, but at least with that it is easy to turn a blind eye and walk away from.

rack it up as a loss and move on. I had a discussion with a guy the other day at work and I basically said what everybody already knows. 90% of the population already has their mind made up. 10% can be swayed if given facts that they can reason through. you're not going to change his mind at this point. he's dug his heels in and it'll be tough to salvage. I would either just give him a wide berth and limit contact or you may drop a final comment that states that you've been friends for a while (I'm assuming) and that you're disappointed that it's come to this because you thought you were tighter than that. People aren't always going to agree. My wife has a friend that's a huge liberal. She won't even go to Chick-fil-A to eat and named her daughter Lilith after the Jewish story. You know what we do when we meet up? Don't eat at Chick-fil-A and don't talk politics and act like decent people. Somehow we all get along and have a good time. I think Phil Robertson said something along the lines of people somehow got the notion that when we disagree that we have to hate each other. It's just not true. Your boy needs a lesson in adulting.

I think what you're talking about, the person/personality as a representation of an entire party goes both ways. Many of the people I see praising Trump and decrying the people who find him terrible as gay muslim babykillin snowflakes who need to cry in their safe spaces, are the same people who get triggered into full butthole pucker tinfoil hat when someone says Clinton or Pelosi or Soros or whatever infowars boogeyman they've bought into.

The party's and the media and "they" have won when we can dehumanize each other like that. If someone leans left on some issue you as a conservative don't like, and you automatically label them as a person incapable of intelligence, is that any better than a liberal person labeling every Trump supporter the same way, or everyone who voted against Obama as racist?

Eh don’t let politics ruin a friendship if it’s a true friend! I don’t associate with many people for good reason and the ones I do could care less what I think of trump or kardashians for that matter!
But Just remember when the next civil war breaks out who’s got ya 6...
