I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with PORC (Performance Offroad Center). I am looking at ordering a ring and pinion kit from them. The kit includes both front and rear ring, pinion and master install kits less than $400. I called them to get the manufacturer of the gears and they told me they were their brand name gears.

They admitted they do not make the gears they are just packaged in PORC name, from what I understand this is what Yukon does also. Their web site claims they are not China made gears and they come with a lifetime manufacturer defect warranty.

I guess what I am looking for is feedback from anyone who has run or setup these gears to see if they are worth taking a chance on?

I've bought stuff from them in the past with very good luck. But, many, many others have had bad luck with them.

I mostly buy from them through eBay. I think it helps to ensure I get my parts

BTW, there are some quality vendors here on NC4x4 that can prob. match or beat PORCs prices. I'd go to them first

IDK about gears, but about 3-4 years ago I bought a SYE kit for a NP231, got in the mail when expected.. ran fine, better price than others had on a SYE ($149 shipped?).. cut an XJ shaft and never slung another slip yoke... but that was a few years back. oh looked just like Advance Adapter's SYE

I'd be more then happy to order from Venders on this site but I have searched the venders prices and none of them even come close to that price for a set of gears with master install kits.

If any vender sees this and wants the order please PM me with your best price I plan to order these in the next day or so.

Don't forget that PORC has a terrible reputation. If you are lucky enough to actually receive a product, consider yourself blessed. Chances are they won't answer the phone to get your warranty taken care of. So, how good is the warranty?

I just spent the last hour researching the reviews on PORC and I've seen the complaints about their customer service. However, when they are selling what I need for close to $200 cheaper than anyone else I can find. I am willing to chance their poor customer service. The thing that concerns me is it a quality product.

What little I can find in my research is that the products they sell are of pretty good quality and there are little to no complaints about the quality. So back to my original question has anyone used or installed PORC ring gears. If you have what was your opinion of their quality will they hold up to a DD/trail rig.

They are correct, they are not made in China, I believe they are made in India last I heard. They are comparable to Yukons value gear line. They are more likely to have more gear whine even if they are set up perfect. If your willing to chance that and want to support a shop that is known to rip people off and almost impossible to warranty anything with they should work fine.

I just found out this guy is working out of his house, that is a enough for me to say no thanks I'll find a differnt avenue for my gears.

its a fact.....you get what you pay for! I dont have experience with porc but if its 200 cheaper than most certainly there is a differance be it quality or customer service.

Would you go to the dentist that is 200 cheaper on gettin tooth work done, even after hearing that he will knock your teeth out?

Long after the sweetness of the price is forgotten the biterness of poor quality will long remain.

Amen...... We will give you a fair price on a quality product and go way out of the way to make sure the customer service and the product is supported.

I have had issues with PORC. I wont deal with them again.
