Powder coating door hinges

Couple of my door hinges have the paint bubbling and ready to peel off. I figure my three options are 1. do nothing and let nature take its course. 2. re-paint them. Or 3. get them powder coated.
I like the idea of powder coating. I think it'd give it some contrast and maybe be fairly durable. Does anyone have any experience with this? Done it before? Pros? Cons? Suggestions for places to get it done around Charlotte?

I thought that was factory on JKs

I just rattle canned mine. Krylon multi surface. I went with an accent color also. The hinges are holding up great. Been close to 4 years now.

That's about all I did. Cleaned the corrosion off of them with a wire brush and sandpaper. Cleaned with acetone. The Krylon is paint and primer. Spray them. I hung them on a coat hanger while I sprayed them. I hit them with about 4 coats about 15 minutes apart and let them dry in the sun. Use light coats to prevent drips and runs.

I'm not a great DIY paint guy. What kind of prep did you do beyond sanding off the factory paint?

If you take off the paint and there is any rust on there, first hit it with some naval jelly rust converter, then clean it off real well and primer it. That will keep the existing bed of rust from continuing to oxidize,

Can’t you buy replacement hinges and other Jeep hardware already coated about as cheap as you can have yours redone? Unless you are thinking of an attempted color match.

Replacement hinges ain't cheap. Trust me, I know (Damn BA hinge height pointed rock at Potts).

I one I got was primed black.

I've never heard of naval jelly rust converter. I'll have to look in to that stuff.

I think I'm gonna do the rattle can approach. They're small and I should be able to prep and paint them relatively easily. And if they turn out looking like shit, I'll just have them powder coated. Pretty low risk venture I think.

Thanks guys.

Best stuff ever. It un-oxidizes the rust so you have clean metal to start with. Glob it on wit ha brush, let it sit, it changes color, wipe it off.

FYI - it's not for belly button.
