power steering quit?

what the hell have i done? i have hydro assist and wanting more pressure i drilled out the main fitting on the pump and removed the shim from the flow piston. put it back together and nothing. pump doesnt even well... pump. i can turn it lock to lock and you cant even hear the bypass kick in. i got all the info from this page westtexasoffroad

i put it together correctly. 3 times now and it just doesnt pump fluid anymore what gives?
 
had an extra pump so i switched it out but i did change the main fitting i drilled onto the extra pump. still nothing. does that mean my problem is in my steering box?
 
When I did mine it took a while for the pump the prime itself (I guess that is what it was doing) Did you try loosening one of the hoses on the ram to see if it would let some air or fluid out(just loosen, don't remove) And make sure you have the hoses on correctly. If it does start working, it will slam the ram the opposite direction and instantly remove the fluid from the pump and spray everything in site before you can turn off the engine. No one told me that one and of course I had a 50/50 chance :shaking:
 
i didnt do that and i guess the hoses are on right. i thought i had them on wrong but verified that the top port was left and it was hooked up right

put my shim back in and i unhooked the ram plugged the holes on the box filled it up with fluid and it turns left to right but you cant hear the bypass kicking when you turn it lock to lock. what does that mean?
 
now i put it back completely stock and it works soooooo why in the hell did drilling it out to 9/64 make it quit working and it works for everybody else?
