Anyone know anything about the trails to the right side of Hwy 16 northbound between 85 and Mountain Island power plant?

Looks like atv trails to me. I know it's illegal to be on the power line trails, but those look well used as long as I can remember.

If you know, why ask? :shaking:

Oi another one of these, Powerline trails are for maintenance use only by the power company, and the land owner. Whatever illegal activity may or may not take place on them is best not discussed here.

No illegal stuff from me! Just wondering if that was private land that people used. If you've seen it before, you'd see why I am curious.

Duke Power owns it.
Don't go there.

I've been trying to remember places I used to play years ago. Lots of times, there are fishing and riding areas directly behind some of the smaller dams. Lookout Dam by Bunker Hill high school was a popular place to play. Game wardens didn't have problems with it.

I keep it legal. I get irritated when one goofball messes things up for everyone else also.

There are some nice hill climbs back there, just lookin from the road, i dont know from experiance . If you turn left at the light (horsebend rd?) and go past the plant, past the boat storage to the gate on the left in the big curve. My friends dad works there. He does all the up keep for that whole penisula. The jeep and mule has seen all of that. Not legal for everyone so i wouldnt try it.

I know these areas. I drive by them every day and live only a few miles from them. Definitely not legal. I've seen some of them on foot, and there's some great little potential play areas, but big electric owns it.

X11 on the not legal part but a little more than 10yrs ago you used to be able to park in Dukes paking lot and go ride. We did that for many years until they decided that they didn't want people riding out there. I believe the crowds got too big. Local people still ride and hunt out there, thats why the trails are still there....But its not legal so don't go there.
