So finally convinced the other half to let me get rid of her PoS vw cabrio. (Anyone want to buy it? It's ermm, great?)
So looking for something with more room for trips etc etc. I was leaning towards a small SUV or soemthing, but not sure if a sedan would make more sense.
Basically looking for something VERY reliable. I do NOT want to be working on her car. I have my jeep, bike, and boat to curse at.
So trying to keep it around 8000$, but maybe more for the right car. Ideally cheaper, but we all know how that goes.

So far I've looked at Maxima's, Jeep libby, grand, commander, ford explorer, kia sportage (was cheap, I don't really trust it), dodge charger and caliber.

Any other vehicles I should be looking at? Any of those with obvious issues? I'm leaning more towards a sedan, but who knows.

Anything Toyota or maybe a Ford Escape? really though, is'nt she ultimately going to make the final decision on what vehicle and price?? :D

Price? Nope
Car? Somewhat

Toyotas never seem to fit me well. Same with Subaru s.
Ford escape is a definite maybe just have not had a chance to look at any of them.

I'm using my "toy money" I had saved up. So that is determining price.

I got an 02' Camry with 102k miles recently after my Audi blew up for your price range. I NEVER saw myself in a camry but I was like you. If I'm going to dump money in a vehicle it better be my Jeep!

I'm 6' and fit in it well. Much better than a carolla or any other compact car. I liked it over the Accord because the same year models Accord's are timing belt and I wanted a timing chain. Neither are a sexy bunch but I wanted reliability and I refuse to drive another mile in a compact where my knees are smashed into the dash.

I've been averaging about 29 mpgs and it's got enough room to shove a small army in it. The catalitic converter did go out at 107k but the Dealer was nice enough to pay for half.

I 'm looking for a Ford Pinto for my wife! :flipoff2:

I just scooped the ol lady an 05 acura tl. Looked at SUVs but couldn't justify the poor mileage. Gets around 30 on the road and is fairly comfortable. You can find em for around 9-10 with over 100k. I consider 100k low mileage as I usually don't buy em till 200k.

My wife had an '07 Escape. I was really impressed. It was a great car. She t-boned a '00 Explorer on I-40 at 70 MPH and broke her ankle. I was surprised at how well built it was. It got mid 20's interstate and around 20 in town.

Impressive. Why was the explorer sideways and not moving?

I've got an 04 VW Passat TDI and its been super reliable and extremely practical. It very comfortably seats 4, has a huge trunk, gets 40mpg around town, and almost 45mpg on the highway.

I am not a ford fan what so ever but the escape is a pretty good vehicle. The was sys it has is really nice for bad weather. I'm 6'4" and can be comfortable up front.
