prayers needed!

Thanks everybody for the prayers. He is still stable but nothing has really changed good or bad. They quit allowing visitors to his room so he could have every opportunity to heal w/o any excitement or agitation from hearing our voices. He did make it through Monday and Tuesday which were suppose to be his worst day for swelling in his brain w/o any major problems.

Ethan has now developed a touch of pneumonia and is being treated w/ antibiotics. They also say he is at high risk of blood clots so the installed some type of filter to prevent them. They have taken him off the extra sedation and are hoping he will respond some more before long.
Even with the complications they say he is doing better. My wife said his face and eyes are looking a lot better. Ive not been able to see him since Tuesday. I'm hoping to get down there tomorrow.

Ethan is showing more improvement...took the brain monitor off this morning. His brain swelling hasn't been what they expected it to be. They will slowly be getting him off the other pain medicine he is on and be waking him up in the next 3-4 days. We are unable to see him so he doesn't have any stimulation. Please continue praying for him as he is waking up. Pray for his strength and help him to continue to heal! Thank you Lord for your continued blessings!

Good to hear he is headed in the right direction.....sounds like a strong one.

I guess God was working overtime last night. Ethan finally opened his eyes this morning and was trying to get out of bed first thing this morning. I just got back from seeing him and it was great to see his eyes. He was looking at my wife and I asked him to look over at me and he did which to me is great. I could tell he was very aggitated because he still has a feeding tube in his mouth and he wanted it out.
They did let him breathe on his on for most the day but put the ventilator back on his trache about 4pm. They said they didn't want to over exert him his first day awake.

We are so thankful he had such a great day and pray he continues to make progress.

Talked with Ashley last night. Her brother is awake, responding, moving arms legs. Responding to the pain when he is moved, eyes focused, tries to talk but still has trek. He has been taken down a floor, still an ICU, but a lower risk area I guess you'd say.All very good signs!
Keep the prayers coming

He was suppose to go down a floor to the intermediate ICU but there are no empty beds so as soon as one comes open he will be moving. Hes been trying to talk some when they close up his trachea. He is ready to get the heck out of here I know that.

I hate to say things are good but I will say he is improving well.

I guess I need to update this thread. I'm happy to say my BIL is doing great! He went straight from ICU intermediate to rehab he was doing so well. He's been in rehab since Friday a week ago and is doing awesome. There have been many doctors, neuro docs, and rehab people that have said that he was a miracle. There were two neurologist that both said they never expected him to live past the first day and only gave him less than 40% chance of survival past the first few days after.
He is now talking, walking, and basically doing everything on his own. They expected him to have a personality changes and have a hard time making decisions but he is basically the same Ethan we've always known and loved.
He is doing well enough that they are going to send him home on thursday after being there 35 days. He will still have plenty of rehab locally after he comes home and were hoping he will be back to normal in the next few months.

God is Great is all I can say.
Thank all of you for your prayers.
