I have about an 8 year old north star pressure washer that needs a pump northern tool wants 350 for the pump for another 200 bucks could have new pressure washer is there a cheaper place to find a pump?
 
Probably buy on eBay for about 80 bucks of so, I did one I brought from Lowes a few years back.
 
I'd say your Pump is Bigger than mine, or your Northern is Sticking you. Mine is 6hp/ 2750psi, with the cheap pump. When I checked Charlotte, & E-bay, my pump was around $100 - &150.
They Really wanted me to upgrade to the $250 pump. Honestly, I just need the rebuild kit > o-rings & baskets. It's a $100, but I'm still using mine as is.
 
I use a 5.5 gpm pump I buy rebuild kits and put new washer Pistons and sleeves much cheaper!
