So what do you think this crawler would sell for? (no I am not buying it, just interested on what it would sell for) It is up for auction right now and the latest bid is $14k

The only information I have is below, as well as pictures.

Custom built Rock crawler. Chevy 350 w/350 turbo transmission. 2 seater 4WD. Propane powered. Transmission appears to work fine but there appears to be a seal leaking somewhere within. Significant amount of fluid leaking out while vehicle is not running. It is a finished product and fully functional. It was used as a recruitment prop in parades and for display

Dana 44 front, poorly supported upper shock mounts, stock diff covers leads to believe theres no upgrades inside the axles, ghetto air bump mounts, ugly as sin and plastic seats. I wouldn't go over 3-5k.

Someone definitely put a lot of time into that. The 44 front wouldnt even be a deal breaker considering there's Chevy 60s that could replace it.
Stlye wise, it's a required taste but pay very close attention to the welds if you happen to see it in person. The wider the weld beads, the bigger the notch gaps. It's always a gamble as to if the tubing is in fact DOM and not schedule 80 pipe.
Snap photos and pull a tape measure to get a rough estimate on suspension geometry.
If everything checks out, I'd say its a 15k buggy to the right person who doesn't mind putting the little extra into it.

Its a tech school selling it, they used it as a recruiting/parade piece. I would say 15k is a decent guesstimate on the value.

That's definitely a 10 bolt front not that it matters. Even if it had tons it's still worth less than 8k. I've seen too many well put together rigs for low-mid teens for this to be in the same class.

My buddy just drove to Mississippi 2 months ago for a killer buggy he paid $15k for.

4 seater, Built tons with all the goodies, 4 linked, coil overs, built LT1/TH400 with monster low NP205, blah blah blah, all that really good stuff. Ready to wheel, in fact he stopped at Gulches on his way home and spent a day there. For the parts list I think he done well. There are a lot of buggies and 1 ton wranglers built right that can be had for that amount of money. I agree with @Chris_Keziah

Shoot I’m drooling and near divorce over this one and it’s cheaper!
84 CJ, H1 Beadlocks, 39s, 1 tons, LT1 V8, Caged, Linked

By the looks of it there is no way to remove and tubing to pull the engine or do any major service. It looks like you’d have to cut it.

You don’t think you could remove the front axle and drop it out the bottom?

Well I thought that, kinda like a Camaro. Still seems silly to me. Can you imagine needing to change the intake or head gaskets but you gotta pull the front axle first?

It looks to me like that whole top piece over the engine would lift off.

There’s a certain high quality Manche build on here that does just that.

That is comparing apples to bananas there!

And I may be wrong and it able to come out the top. But either way, I don’t see a $14k buggy myself. But some people spend more money on worse things. Personally, I’d get with the guy in the link I posted and offer him $10k. Assuming he takes it, I’d wheel the piss out of it the next 3 years or more and then spend $4500 on an M&M Triple Threat 4 seater chassis and swap all the stuff over to that.

But alas, pipe dreams and I’m just pushing an old XJ.

Logistically exactly the same. I’m not comparing quality or capability. It’s like those Ford guys that pull an entire body off a Powerstroke to change head gaskets. But you’re right, we’re so far away from the original question it’s not even remotely relevant what we’re discussing. I wouldn’t buy this buggy either.

Its an auction and its already topped 14k. Not saying I would pay that or that it worth it, just guessing at its selling value. If anyone on here owned it I don't think you would put it on CL for 3-5k. Realistically I'm with @77GreenMachine I would put a 10k cash CL value on it if I had taken it on trade.

Hopefully it's a benefit kind of deal, and the proceeds go to the school.
