How much would you guys pay for a meal consisting of pulled pork, baked beans, slaw, rolls, tea/water and banana pudding?

I'd go $10 on that one (because banana pudding is an ass load better than an oatmeal cream pie) -maybe a little more if it's a CHARITABLE event.

We have Bar-b-que all the time with the fire department and 10 bucks is usually what we charge per plate, but its usually all you can eat though.

Wow - put food on the boards and you guys jump on it :p

Yes, there is a restaurant from the area willing to give the agency a price break to me and if I decide to do this, then it will be a free meal for each poker hand (at the Poker Run) bought otherwise a price if you did not buy a poker hand.

Everything goes to the crisis center after everything is paid (insurance, permit . . .)

rather participate in the run and get a killer deal.

I dont like beans or slaw. so for pork, pudding and drink @6.00
What time are you going because I don't think they will sell you just what you want. I'll be glad to take those beans and slaw off your hands and I want even charge you a disposal fee. $10 bucks aint bad but I'm a few miles from sparta. Maybe Dylan could pick my plate up?

The poker run I've rode in are usually 15 bucks for and an passenger food included and one poker hand. They charged 5 bucks each additional hand and if you weren't riding you just drew all your cards on site.

With proper planning, you should be able to pull it off for $7 a plate, and still rake in a ton of cash. Beans and slaw are cheap sides. Fries and/or puppies, you could maybe justify $8 a plate. $10, and I'd pack my own lunch. Sorry, but times are tight. I can go to Bib's and get an awesome plate of pork with a killer side and puppies for under $8. Charity or not, people are going to buy more if it's a more family-friendly price. They may even tip for the cause.

I think she is talking about food at the Poker Run at URE, not going to Sparta.

Mark...this would be a good event to bring the kids to.
I hope to be there...but I have said that for the last couple of years and havent been able to make it yet.

I'll keep trying though!

Our Scout troop is selling tickets now for a BBQ plate sale. $7 bucks for BBQ, slaw, beans, roll. We'll have a desert table at the event, and sell for a buck apiece, so $8.00 per plate including dessert would be good.

A local VFD just did a pancake breakfast, charged $10 per plate. I though that was kinda steep, and didn't go for that reason. A big ethics thing about Scout sales, you are supposed to receive value for what you pay. Ten bucks for pancakes, IMO, is not fair value. Thats why Scouts don't do raffle sales (or, at least, are not supposed to).

To clear some things up, I had posted about the Poker Run under up-coming events and will update as raffle prizes and other items come into play. 4th Annual 4x4 Poker Run

I am willing to pay extra for a good cause so that's why I needed to ask what may be fair - I don't like baked beans and slaw either but I know that the majority do.

Cost breakdown:
$20/hand (could win $200 or $50 best or worst respectively)
$1/raffle ticket - $5 for 6
same for 50/50 drawing
$2/bag for the gem find (only 9 bags this year - I think)
Cost to ride the trail

You get for free -
a live band
free camping
a good reason to ride
and me not cooking any cakes or pies this year - lol, those were so sad looking lol
- if we go with the meal then a free meal for each hand

If we get food enough for 100 people (crossing fingers) and 50 buy a hand - $10 still doesn't cover the cost of the food but I think it's worth the sacrifice. I didn't know how many were willing to pay 7 or 8 bucks as it's easier just to hand a 10 (in my opinion) then to deal with change (me being the person buying food). But I also understand times are tough right now. There are plenty of things to enjoy at URE without riding so I'm hoping many will treat it as a nice family vacay. Of course our schools are continuing until June 10 as it is right now (in Sparta).

Dylan - I'll be waiting for your name!

I appreciate everyone's feedback :D

You could get the cost down if you cook the food yourselves.

For CNC's fall bash I did 4 boston butts, the week before, pulled the meat vaccum sealed it and froze it. At the event, I boiled it in the bag, and it turned out great. Overall we did cole slaw, rice, scratch made corn bread, mac and cheese, chili, and pulled pork for roughly $100

Cher and I PM'd and I have already committed to ECORES that weekend in Harlan. Sorry I could not be there but thanks for the mention.
