Well, I am deep enough in this thing, I might as well do a build thread.

Picked up a 95 4Runner Limited to build a new dedicated trail rig:

The day I bought it:

Truck had a fresh top end and a rebuilt bottom end on the 3.0 V6.
A340h automatic trans.
Already lifted 2.5” with 33” A/Ts.
Sweet roof rack.
Factory 4:88 gears.

Wheeled it..

Enter Stage 2:

Obviously IFS does not hold up to “Kyle Style” wheeling.

So I bought parts, and then a 5spd equipped parts truck, then some more parts, then another parts truck, and then some more parts.

So all these parts weren’t going to glue themselves onto the truck, and since I can’t fabricate a Ham Sandwich, I called in some help.

Contracted @Kickdeez to finish up stage 2.

Stage 2 consists of:

SAS with 84/85 axle including 4:88s, Spartan locker, 30 spline Longs, ARP knuckle studs, armored and gusseted, etc.
Doing Rear springs up front, leaving the rear factory 4 link with 2.5” lift.

5speed (R150) swap with gear drive case adapter to a 4.7 top shift case.

Budbuilt flat belly crossmember.

Marlin Crawler cage kit.

37 BFG Stickies on aluminum wheels.

Stage 3 plans are:
Keyed knuckles and full hydro
Regear the e- locker third I have for the front.
40” Sticky Treps
Add on to cage kit
Fabricated or TG 4link rear
2nd tcase in order to have stupid low when needed.

Why not link the front while you are there?

Why not link the front while you are there?

I would love to, bit too late now, and I have spent so much $ already it’s ridiculous.

Need to get the current stuff done, then hopefully wheel for a bit while I save up money for stage 3.

Stage 4 we can talk about linking the front . 😎
