Alright, so after working crazy hours the last few months, (130 hrs average every 2 weeks) and being generally burnt out on working on the house and stuff like that, I came into possession of a car.

It’s in decent shape, 04 or 05 Infiniti G35 with right at 100k miles. Nice leather interior, 6 speed, power everything, sunroof etc. but the motor is locked up for some reason and it’s been sitting for a bit so it’s pretty nasty on the outside.

Against better judgment and due to just wanting something to tinker with since night shift is coming up, I brought it into the garage to get a better look at it.

Fast forward a couple hours and I guess we’re doing a full tear down to see what’s up and if it’s fixable.

Anyone want to take a guess as to how bad it is? That’s as far as a I got last night. Sometime today I’ll finish draining the fluids and pull the radiator and start the timing cover removal process.

Sidetrack, how do you get rid of that black mold lookin stuff on the body?

I've got a white xj that sat for a long while and regardless of any washing or whatever, it comes back every few months.

A solid pressure wash goes a long way, and then just scrub it down really good, maybe give it a good buff and wax. I honestly don’t know though, I’ve never really had that problem.

Purple power and a plastic bristled brush has worked well for me on my moldy TJ every few years when I wash it. Follow with a coat of wax for best results.

Good score!!
LS swaps that utilize the stock 6-speed are available.
I actually have access to some LS engines, just have to pull but I’m not sure if I want to go that route but the more I hear it, the more intrigued I become. I’m not exactly a “LS SWAP THE WORLD” guy, but depending on what it looks like, it may happen. I feel like it would definitely hurt some feelings like that though.

I agree on not LS swapping the world, but I would love to throw in a stockish 6.2 @ 400+hp in my '06 G35 & play.

Your pics have me wanting to pull my intake & clean it (and the valley) while doing the coils/plugs.
