Well I need to slow down a little . So I am not going to be rock crawling / trail riding plus the expense of breaking is breaking me .
So I want to do more camping with my son and family . So here is my idea .
I want to build a 95 -99 chevy or GM suburban as a expedition vehicle to go to places and camp . I plan on the next few months of gathering parts for it . here is the rundown of my plans .
Vehicle : 95-99 suburban
Suspension 4-6 inch lift
tires and wheels 16-18 inch wheels and good AT tires 33-35 range
Armor Custom front and rear bumpers sliders/steps .
Other stuff
Full roof rack with roof top tent
rear locker ,GPS ,Offroad lights full entertainment package
Here is a idea of something of what I want

Cool idea. My dream exp. vehichle would be a 7.3L Excursion setup like the truck in that pic.

Nice looking Burb! What about a crewcab dually and sell the bed and start a build on the frame? Seen this done and he put a van body on one.

Suburbans are the best! I'd look for a SF 14 bolt to swap in place of the 10 bolt.

If you're keeping the IFS I'll have a 6" Trailmaster kit thats coming off my truck in a few weeks when I SAS it. You can even have the front diff and axles, anything IFS related. PM me if you're interested. I have friends in NC and can get everything up that way for you to save you some drive.

If you dont plan to go off road much at all, it will be a great choice. If you do, the independent front end is a PO:poop:.
I love mine, but the 4wd is basically just for snow on paved roads. Dont kid yourself and think it can handle much more than that. Give it much articluation and it will spit out a cv shaft. Wheel bearings and pitman arm are at the limit with 33's. FWIW... Mine has the factory self leveling air ride shocks and I love it. If you are hauling a bunch of stuff, peeps or towing a trailer and it self levels. :huggy: It is a great option, but if you are lifting it, they would not work for you.
I have 32's on factory rims on mine with no lift. Knocks down 20 mpg at 5 over the speed limit and tows a 3000 lb race car on a open trailer with no problems. Stay away from the small engine, the 5.3 is bare minimum for the weight. Just my .02, hope it helps.
