I haven't had my M715 on the highway since I did the propane conversion. It has a cheby 350, 27% overdrive, and 5.88's and is probably pushing 6k lbs empty, so I'm not getting great mileage. I'm looking at alternatives to the single forklift tank I'm currently using for some running around. Anywhere from a rack holding multiple forklift tanks to a 20x60 fixed tank.

Those of you running propane on bigger motors or heavy trucks that don't get the best mileage...what's your tank setup? How many tanks of what size are you running? How are they mounted? How many tanks to get you thru a weekend?

I'm a belt-and-suspenders type.... I got propane on my CJ, usually run out just shy of a tank in a day....always start out with 2 full tanks....gone off for a weekend, I usually plan on taking and averaging 1.5 to 2 tanks per day we'll be gone. I don't know what to expect with the 715 on the trail.

I also use the two tank set up. I usually get a day of wheeling out of one tank. Sometimes I have to switch tanks just before getting back to camp. I have seen similar usage out of other heavy rigs. I have seen an old powerwagon at Tellico, I think he had six tanks in the back of his. I also saw a nice buggy once in Mnt City that used a 35 gallon RV type tank. He said he had never run out.

I have a big tank for sale. Not sure on exact capacity, but about 30 gallons. It came off a truck that had been professionally converted to propane and is made to permanent mount in the truck. Take $200 for it or trade for 2 good ten gallon forklift tanks. PM me if interested.

i run a two tank set up also. generally use one tank per day. but i always go with two full tanks and spare rubber o rings.

22r turbo setup, run one tank and have a "coleman" tank adapter and 2 coleman tanks on board. Can run run all day and into the night on one tank. Carry the small coleman tanks as a spare and can run about 15-20 mins on a tank to get back to camp. (must run the coleman tanks upside down to get the liquid).
