Propane help

On the balance port topic , I am unfamiliar the 425. I do know that impco 100/125 style I have seen both ways ,plugged and vented. Never seen it make a diiference.

Thanks for the thoughts, Ben.

Have you tried moving your vacuum reference to a place on the intake? If you are having to hold the throttle open, it sounds like it is looking for vacuum above the throttle plates.

Yea. Thats what I am thinking. But it is getting vacuum from the same port as before, (the base plate)! And I have tried two different lockoffs to make sure that didnt fail at the same time. Was thinking I might try a different port just to try something!

That or could be purging too much fuel when cranking and opening the plates diffuses the fuel some?

I have been thinking this. But I have turned the idle screw all the way in to full lean. Made no difference! BUt this is why I was wondering about the "balance" port maybe affecting that.

Also, have you checked to see if fuel was flowing between lockoff & reg, and reg & mixer while cranking cold? Could be that the springs are stiffer needing more vacuum to flow?

Springs? Havent checked the cold start flow. Havent been able to have someone outside while I crank it. This would be something for me to verify. It is def too much or too little since the start fluid fires it right up' And It does fire up fine, for a while, once it has run once.

Cant remember anything so simple baffling me like this!!

I know that on a blow thru setup you need to connect a vac line from the mixer to the reg so that everything gets the correct press/vac reference. Normally the reg is ref to atmosphere.

Without knowing more, I'm guessing that your regulator might need to be rebuilt. It could have seen damage during the roll.
