Propane system component question

Was watching Extreme4x4 on Spike today. They were starting on some kind of new buggy that will be fueled with propane. They were showing some of the components for the system. One thing they showed was some sort of overpressure valve. I guess it's supposed to act like a pop-off valve on a compressed air system. I never knew this was needed on a propane system and thus don't have one. I pieced my system together from some used stuff and the thing runs like a dream. It's been powering my 258 for a little over a year now. I may have been playing with fire here without having that valve. Should I track one of these down and put it in ASAP for safety sake? Thanks.

On the tank, or on the system somewhere?

Somewhere in there system there needs to be one.. all forklift tanks have them built in.

The only time you need to plum a releif into the system is with a hard mount tank that doesnt have one. If the tank is portable it will have one.

I have one on my system. All forklifts have them in the line from the tank to the lockout. You decide if you need one or not. KC

I do run forklift tanks. So what you are saying is that I shouldn't need to install one somewhere in the lines then?

you got it!

hey, what kind of range do you guys get out of a fork lift tank? what engines are you running too.

Worn-out 305v8. 1.5 days per tank.

AMC 360 depends on where I go as to how long, how far.
Pumpkin Center less than a tank all day playing.
Mnt City All day one tank
Tellico camped below Crawford's, tank and then some, (switch over on the way out on trail 1
Tellico staying at Spivey Cove Almost all day, switched out a few miles from camp.

Some fork trucks have them but most do not. Like the auto makers if a fork truck maker can leave somthing off to save a buck they do. The releif can be left off because ALL fork truck tanks have them. On a side note always make sure the releif on the tank is turned up. If its turned down it will release liquid insted of vapor.
