Proper torque for wheel spacers?

I picked up a set of 1.5" AL wheel spacers to combat a couple of issues on my narrowtracs... mainly, the tires scrubbing the front leafs at full lock and severely limited rear flex due to contact with the inner fenders. My balljoints are tight and the hubs are sporting new bearings at this point

Planning to install them tonight, but wanted to find out the correct method/torque numbers. IIRC, the inner nuts & seats are conical. Is it an absolute given this must be done with a torque wrench or will common sense prevail?

I just don't want them to fall off like Elliots! :flipoff2:
 
Our XJ has cast Al wheels with conical lugs. I torque them to 85ft-lbs, I think that's within the factory spec. 5 lugs (is the 'mando 6?) go with the star pattern.
Over 7 yrs now, havent lost a wheel yet :D
 
This was told to me by a guy who ran spacers, and has served me well..

crank 'em on with a 4-way. wheel the wee out of it. come home, re-crank 'em. Wheel for years.

I haven't had any of the 24 loosen on the cruiser.. ever. 2 spacers were new, 2 were well-used.

I use anti-sieze on the threads.
 
That's what I wanted to hear Rich! Since I DON'T have torque wrench, I was hoping my "squint/grunt/strain/crap self" method would work! :D
I'll coat the studs w/ anti-sieze, torque them down snug, do URE this weekend, and double check them next week!
 
You can borrow mine too Dave as long as it doesn't come back with duct tape on it.
 
i torqd mine to 90ft lbs and put locktite on them. after a week at tellico and 2 8 hr drives they havent loosened up
 
120 ft/lbs

I got mine new last year and the instructions said 120 ft/lbs. Hope this helps

I'd never use loctite on an aluminum wheel spacer...

when you go to check torque and retorque, you won't know if it's the spacer causing the "click" or the loctite...
