Pros and Cons of LED's

pros visibility, cool look, depending on the application recessed. if you have a electronic flasher i dont beleive there is any problem running them. i run them on the rear for stop tail turn, and they are highly visible just with the running lights on they are almost as bright as the stop bulb of the originals. i plan on replacing all of the rest of my marker lights with led this year

They draw less power, so you can use them for longer without the engine running. They last longer than regular bulbs. The only drawback is since they are directional, they don't reflect off of the standard light housings. For instance, if you were to replace a tail light with an LED, it would appear dimmer than with the regular bulb without the aid of the reflector.

My taillights are great.
The only real difficulty is the lack of a reflector ( no reflection if they are off) and off angle they aren't as bright. I will say they are 10x brighter than my stock 35 year old, corroded, non reflective housings with new bulbs.

The LED's will illuminate faster than an incandescent bulb when power is applied. Read an article someplace (might have been Consumer Reports), it was just a fraction of a second, but enough difference for a car at 60mph to travel about 20 or so feet. A driver still has the same reaction time, but if he has just another fraction of a second to respond when you hit your brakes, it could *maybe* avoid an accident.

I agree, however most would be replacing the entire light housing which has many LEDs in it. the only CON I know of is they are blindingly bright(brake lights) when you are following someone at night through the trails.

Has anyone seen the round led tail light with the yellow turn light on the bottem portion?

Havent seen them, but why are you wanting them.... just use the turn as red too

We carry them at Advance, regular and Sealed, in the trailer lights/wiring section... rather limited supply, and not exactly the cheapest, but u dont haveta order them

ok, when actually installing the LED's, am i correct when i say you need to replace the relay to get them to blink with your blinker?

Yes, you will need an electronic blinker or the original one will think there is a bulb out.

advance or auto zone both will have a replacement electronic flasher for most any application either that or you can solder the correct ohm resistor inline with each light set to simulate the correct resistance of the old lamp
