you'd probably end up spending more to get it repaired then it costs to get a new one. They cost around 130$ now, and a used one could probably be found for around 80 or so at a gamestop or something.

What's it doing? I heard a rumor that Sony is repairing them for cheap. Also, there's usually somebody at the dedicated game stores that fixes them or can turn you on to someone who can.

If it's just the annoying not reading the disc, that's easy to fix.
takes about 15 minutes.
I've had to fix mine twice now.
and some friends too.

thanks guys I took a chance and took it apart to clean it,man was it dirty. I got this thing spic n span and got it back together and no power. turns out i pulled the power ribbon out during disassembly,i took it back apart and it slid back in easily,now the system works like new. just wanted to share this with ya'll in case you need to take it apart and clean it.
