Fawking PO or PO's mechanic (I really hope a shop didn't do this) mixed up the pads on this old xj I've got (one open notch at the top and one at the bottom) and now Im sweating my balls off trying to find a way to remove this caliper without saying screw it and start cutting it in two with my angle grinder. What should have been a ten minute job is going to take half a day now that I've got to run to a parts store to try and find a c-clamp big enough to compress the caliper while still on the axle. Fawk the PO and fawk this humidity. Rant off.

I agree with not mixing up pads, but fail to see how it has caused this problem.

Couldn't you use a screw driver or pry bar to partially compress it?
Tried it, maybe if I had a small pry bar it would be strong enough to not break. The caliper is seized BTW.

D30's don't have caliper brackets, they are part of the outer knuckle.

If they installed it with mixed pads. Why can you not remove it?

You can, you just can't do it the right way lol. I got it but its just an unnecessary extra step and an extra trip to the parts store is all. Just had to compress the caliper just enough to get the outer pad to unseat then pry it off.
