I learned something today that I, and a lot of people I know, have apparently been wrong about for years.

Do you ever buy only two tires instead of four? Do you put the new ones on the front? Watch to see why that is wrong, and why they belong on the rear.

thats nice to know for the wifes dd. OFFROAD FTW!!

I can't stand to not have matching tires, OCD I guess. But very interesting to know.

We always made that suggestion when i worked in the auto world and people still wanted them on the front. This would have been nice to have in the waiting room to show them.

So, if you plan on driving too fast for conditions, better tires in the rear. What about things like wet stopping distance? Or control after a blow-out? Just seems like there should be more to it.

I disagree ... It's kinda hard to steer out of a wet weather skid or hydroplane or whatever when it's the front slick tires that are floating.

Who cares about stopping distance? Drifting FTW!

Blowouts are typically easier to control from the front, but (in my experience) are not a big deal on a vehicle thats not towing.

So the moral of the story is to take care of your car and keep it aligned with new tires on it....

There's just as many good reasons to have the good tires on the front, as the points made in this video.
