As some of you in here may know I have a issue with gluten. Well after some recent problems it was concluded that I have what is known as Gluten Ataxia. Ataxia is an autoimmune disease that causes my body to attack my brain stem when I consume any amount of gluten. I have lost parts of me, I have issues with hand tremmors, balance and eye issues. I had initially chalked this up to aging. This is the same condition that took my mother, it is a slow horrible way to die. You loose yourself over time, slowly you will not be able to button you shirt, speak, eat and eventually be a vegetable. For me this is a death sentence and I am very aware of how it goes. From current research if I keep to an extremely strict GF diet i should not progress but every little exposure will take a little bit of me. These symptoms do not normally present in younger people but the earlier you catch it the better.

So If you or someone you know has issues with gluten please, please get tested. I have attached a link to more information.
Ps: please don't be offended if I am unwilling to eat something.

Wow -- had no idea that was a thing. Thought the gluten thing was just the celiac disease and gluten sensitivity/allergy. And people like a friend of mine that are "highly allergic" to gluten, unless offered a cinnamon roll or Domino's. Sounds like the Alpha Gal I have in a way -- you never know where gluten is hidden....medicines, vitamins, most any food product. That sucks.

Wow, I have Celiac and I have not heard of that. Thanks for sharing.

And I know what you mean about being unwilling to eat something. I don’t like going to festivals, parties, or ballgames because eating seems to be a big thing at those type events. When I had a motorcycle I mostly rode by myself because groups of riders end up riding somewhere to eat.
