Hello,I've got a 4 cylinder isuzu motor that will blow a puff of smoke only when shifting.Idles without smoking unless left at idle for 15 minutes...then it will smoke lightly.Any ideas?Thanks

What color is the smoke? And is this when it's below freezing outside?

Found out that it's probably valve seals.That would be good.Thanks

Saw in your other thread that this head is supposed to be rebuilt. How many miles since rebuild? Do you know who did it? If in fact it's the valve seals, the problem may be deeper. IF it was rebuilt (sloppy job) the valve guides may be worn, preventing the seals from doing their job. No seal will work(for long) if the guides are worn.

I was just reading a googled possibility.Fella said;
"Blue smoke from tailpipe between shifts is valve guides it also happens after a long deceleration the extra vacuum sucks it out of the valve guides, smoking on acceleration is rings."
The previous owner said it was not driven much.Sounds like valve guides as you mentioned.Is that gonna be a big expense?Thanks

Expensive, yea, valve guides are pretty much the first thing they put in a head. Everything has to come back out to do them.
