Does anyone know what's causing a spillage of gas whenever I fill up at the gas station? I and one guy I work with both have this problem. We both have 2006 TJ X's, and both have this problem. Whenever we fill up at the pump, towards the end it always spills out/overflows when it gets close to full.
I know how much the tank holds, and am now causious when i get close to the amount of gas my tank holds, but every-so-often gas spills out. I think this is caused by a smaller diameter fuel tube leading to the gas tank, and when the tank gets close to full, it backwashes, and shoots up and out of the tube, causing spillage. Is this correct, or could it be the angle of the tube leading to the tank? Is this an issue with certain models and/or years? I had a 98 TJ Sahara and never had this issue. Please help...
