Upgraded my Mac book to o/s version Monterey today. One of the first things I found is it now has the ability to cut and paste text. From a pic, either an image file or in a browser.

Accurate, too, even with handwriting.

My Macbook is older and I can’t upgrade but that is freaky.

The first real OCR machine was installed in 1954 at the American magazine Reader's Digest. This device was used to convert typewritten sales reports into punch cards that could be read and searched by computers. It was not yet possible to extract only the most relevant data, so the entire documents were read in.
I'm just saying, ain't nothin' new. OCR has been around for a while. Just much more prevalent now.

Not exactly the same....very smooth transition without any setup...no conversion, no calculating, nothing. See a pic with text in it, like a sign, photo of a document....and instantly click and drag to select any text.
