Coworker had a leaky transmission in his son's 05 Grand Cherokee.

They fixed the leak at the pan under warranty, and also a leak in the rear pinion seal under warranty.
But they added this bit to it for ~$100
I don't have a clue what it is by the description, and when he asked they gave no real information.
Here is the description:
Found transmission sensor O rings leaking
replace trans valve body connector.
repair trans sensor seals
1209 CJER
1 68021352AA plug 12.79

Any idea what plug/sensor that actually is? Is it the sensor to see what gear the transmission is in?

Just curious.

Thanks

If it has a 3.7L engine it will have the NAG1 transmission and the "sensor" is actually the transmission electrical connector, they all leak. We usually relace the cup plug end of it as they changed the design.

So they charged him $100 for a warranty repair?

Part of the problem with the new car's drivetrain warranties is that many things you think would be covered aren't.

I was looking at purchasing a new economy car as a commuter because of the 100K mile warranty. Once I started looking at what was covered and what wasn't, I opted to buy a 4 yr old car with 50K on it.
