Ok, so I pull up to a stop sign right....and put it in first and try to take off....and nothing happens...does'nt even stall out..engine running and nothing happens. When I gas it in first gear with the clutch out I hear somthing turning but not going anywhere. Any idea what this is? I took the trans down and looked in it..it's dry..I also need to know what to put in there...gear oil or grease...the drive shafts are'nt spinning either...so I figured it would either be the clutch or somthing to do with the fact that it's bone dry inside the transmission. But I'm new to this problem so anyone have experience in this type of thing and knows whats up let me know....thanks

Does it move in second gear? Sounds like something major messed up in the tranny.

Sounds like to me the clutch is the problem, not that a dry tranny isn't a problem. (put gear oil with some lucas oil stabilizer untill it comes out the fill hole on the side.) And HOPE and PRAY that it'll still go. If it's not the clutch, the tranny is toast. (Not that it's not both.)

Gear oil is too thick for a T4/T5. I use 15w-50 synthitic motor oil in my rebuilds on these. Probably it is too late to save if it has been dry long. Also sounds to me like the clutch may have failed itf the trannny locked up and the motor will still turn.

Well the Trans is'nt locked up...i can shift it to any gear and play with it...and after opening it and lookin around I did'nt see any sheered gears or anything and everything looks fine. But it did'nt move in any gear when I tried. All I heard was somthing spinning...metal on metal ..but couldnt find it

OK,

Does rear driveshaft rotate? If so, it's rearend problem.

Unless center hub of clutch sheared away, I doubt its a clutch issue.

Transmission input shaft turns the cluster gear. Is that happening? Move a syncro to a gear and see if input shaft turns output shaft? Does shifter move the syncros (perhaps a shifter problem and not transmission gear problems)?

How the hell did gearbox get dry?

Fuel for thought.
