Question about a ticket.

For those taking the moral high ground of, "you broke the law, pay the fine"
Who established the safe speed limit?
Did they take different vehicular abilities (such as braking distance) into account?
Did they take different driver abilities into account?
Has that zone been reassessed in 20 years?

I drive what I consider to be a safe speed based on the vehicle, conditions and ability I have. Lots of roads I drive over the posted limit, sometimes I will not attempt the posted limit, I use my best judgment and go from there. If I get harassed/troubled/stopped by Barney Fife I call a lawyer and write a check...

All I am saying, is if you firmly believe the law is not to be questioned, then I have a problem with that.

I think this is kind of quickly becoming a political debate.I think often times a lot of what tickets are issued for is more about the money and less about public safety. In that arena tickets are routinely dropped as long as the fine is paid, court costs are covered and usually a lawyer's pocket gets laced with a little cash.It says a lot about the way things are done from the bottom to the top, ending of course in Washington DC where Lobbyists,Special Interest Groups,Labor Unions and people working quietly in the background gain favor with politicians by sending a little money their way.Maybe that's a topic for another thread though...............

LOL. It wasn't but it will be now.

Yea you may be able to drive faster than the legal limit because you feel you're a good driver. I'm not gonna argue with that. But what about some 16 year old kid who just started driving. You know as well as I do that he/she shouldnt be allowed to do anywhere near the legal limit. What if it was your kid. Or what if that inexperienced kid hits you or your wife.

So.... no I don't think the limits should be assessed.

I guess you're just above the law which is awesome, I'd love to be too. I just don't feel like paying my way to that status.
