I don't know about that truck with those tires, but I blew a rear driveshaft in my Commando so I pulled it out, lock the hubs threw it in 4hi and drive on home about 5-10 miles. It was smooth and steering was no issue. Granted that's no 2hr drive, and completely different vehicle... With the open diff (assuming it's open) it's like a front wheel drive vehicle...kinda. Problem I've always found with 4wd on pavement is when there power to BOTH axles. Then you get the binding and bad driving characteristics. I'm sure some will debate it.
