I hopefully will have a new tow rig in the next couple of weeks. One of my good friends is trading me for one of my cars, as I need a backup tow rig for my business. Big Ugly is currently down with a dead turbo, and I have ordered parts but I realize that I need a second vehicle just in case. Plan was to buy a rollback, but since we are doing this trade I want to see if my ideas will work.

The truck is an 04 Ram, standard cab longbed, SRW. It currently has a service bed on it but I am going to take it off and put a flatbed on it. It has the 5.9L Cummins and 6-spd.

What I would like to do is get a 5th wheel 2-car trailer to pull behind it. Not sure if the truck can handle that, wanted to get some opinions. I am not opposed to converting it to DRW either.

It would be better with a drw but you'll be fine with the srw. People do it every day.

Or swap an older crew cab body on the dodge. That's what's gonna fall apart anyway.

It's a 3rd Gen. They're fine. My 12yo Dodge is in better shape today than any Ford we've ever owned.

I've had 4 3rd gens and they body's are worst than any 1st or 2nd gen I've owned. Seats wear out fast, window switches, misc trim pieces rattles and shakes. Mostly interior stuff just seems to be made alot cheaper

Dude you weight a buck thirty five. Of course seats last in your trucks.
Im sure you dont roll down your windows for fear of messing up your coif 'do. So those dont wear out.
And between your climate controlled garage and executive work parking it never sees the sun so the dash doesnt crack.

I'm about 200#, and the truck sits outdoors about 90% of the time. Windows are down in town if the weather is nice.
