I'm in the market to purchase a nice 4x4 truck and I believe I've found the one. 2004 Chevrolet Silverado crew cab Z71 with 88,000 miles on it. It has the 5.3 vortec engine. It is a one owner truck and was purchased new in Statesville, NC and kept there all of its life. The truck was serviced at a Chevrolet dealer Statesville and it comes with receipts for every service ever done to it. The truck is literally spotless inside and out and underneath as well. Everything looks and still smells new. I've never seen an older truck this nice honestly. The truck is priced right also. Are there any major issues or concerns with the 2003-2006 body style Silverados? Every person I've talked to with a truck in this body style has loved theirs. Thanks!

2003 Yukon XL here. Exact same vehicle other than the body style.
I have had one window motor go out and on rare occasion the dash display will flash on and off. Factory alternator went at 175k on the dot. That's it.
I bought it at 130k and have driven it daily, worked out of it, pulled boats/trailers with it on a weekly basis, been shot at, and now at 200k , original everything else. I'd say it's easily the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.

The transfer case motors do give trouble as well as the abs unit. Factory radio also could be problematic. Remember selling a lot of those three things the most during my salvage yard days.

I probably don't want to know the price for an 04 with only 88,000 miles. My dad has an 04 sierra, and I have an 05 Yukon xl. Both great trucks and no issues that you wouldn't expect out of any older vehicle.

One item no one has mentioned is the stepper motors for the gauges. They will fail, but they're pretty cheap and easy to fix.

Using NADA [which can be + or -] & estimating, your looking at average 10K. That seems a little high to me, but if it's all you say, that's about right.
A Good detailing can make an good vehicle look New. Just hard to cover up worn seats, pedals, other little tale tale signs.

Pretty much what everyone has said. I love those trucks. Had some drive by wire throttle body issues also but nothing to really scare anyone from purchasing one. Like has been said, that is a tough truck.

Trust me, I know all about polishing a turd BUT this is not "detail" clean. It's "taken VERY well care of all throughout the years" clean. Seats have "Seat Saver" seat covers on them and the seats underneath them look brand new. Steering wheel looks and feels new. Dash is perfect as are all the buttons etc. It's crazy to explain. Kind of just a "have to see in person" type deal. Truck drives like new. It's more than $10,000. That's a little on the low side I think. Finding a nice 4x4 truck with less than 100,000 miles on it is next to impossible. I will probably jump all over it.

NADA and the like are way behind on truck values in the real world. New trucks are so expensive, and fuel is relatively cheap, so used truck values are stupid high.

Couldn't agree more. New trucks are $50k+. They used to be affordable for the masses but that's not so much the case anymore. I see 03-06 Silverados with 150k+ miles on them going for $10k or more on Craigslist. This is a nice, low mileage truck that has not been beat on at all. I feel sure it's worth what they're asking and it's not much more than $10k.

How is NADA behind on values? They're way better than KBB, which has some bullshit values on it....

@95Trooper Does the truck have power seats? Leather? I looked up the clean retail on it and it's like 14,650. If you can get it for around 10k, you'll be doing pretty good I'd say. Hell, 88k miles is basically new anyway and it's 1/6th the price of a new, comparable truck.

@Croatan_Kid It has cloth which I like better in this body style. The material never wears out. It's $14,400 clean retail without leather. I can get it for a couple thousand less than that. I'd never pay clean retail or within $500 of it. Kind of setting yourself up for a loss at that point unless you have no other choice but to do so. Thanks man!
