Question about USPS delivery

Ive got a gun that is coming back to me that I sent in for some updates and service. They sent the gun back priority mail and is suposed to be delivered tomorrow....only thing is...im assuming it requires an adult signature upon delivery. I want to try and intercept and go and pick up the package if at all possibly before it is delivered to me house where I will not be to sign for it. Anyone know protocol for this? Is it possible that they will leave a note and I can sign for it for them to just drop it off at my house the next day?
or anyone know where the mail sits before it is put into the trucks for the carriers deliver and I can just go pick it up at the office? I live in high point.

Tried searching on the USPS website but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
I am wanting to make sure I have the gun in my possession before Saturday, since I wanted to go shooting Saturday morning.
 
How well to you know your carrier ? I used to do all sorts of things for my customers while I was s letter carrier. I would ask the manager to leave a note at the carriers case for him to leave it in the office so you can come in and get it yourself. That will ensure he does not bring it to the street.
