Serious question: So...what's with all the ribbons that Milley wears? Two rows were enough for Ike when he was a 4-star...

Are they handing them out like candy, compared to 70 years ago? Did Eisenhower just wear the most significant/important ones? Is Milley wearing every ribbon he ever qualified for, starting with 3rd grade hall monitor?

One says "Mmmmmm, salad." The other says "Try it again, Germany."

Given todays society I’m gonna say he was able to put his pants on one leg at a time and tie his shoes without help with all those ribbons…..but I could be TOTALLY wrong and not have a clue

The only medals now days with any significance in the army are obviously the Medal of Honor, Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor, Soldiers Medal, and a Purple Heart. The rest can be had for showing up and doing your job.

What Wes said is a big fact also the awards available now are way more numerous than there used to be including joint and multi national awards and different campaigns in different countries. Think of it like the cars of the time compared to know. Way more options.

Yes, Some of the Medals are mandatory to wear, Most are not. I always wore only the Mandatory ones, and retired with a rack similar to Dwight's, If I wore all my optionals I would have only added probably two more rows. I remember guys who had more ribbons then Milley, But like Milley, they had careers that spanned 3~4 Decades, Lots of campaign and and unit awards come with a career that long. Plus there's software now that makes it easy to know what ribbons you can wear, and how to set them up... Makes it a lot easier to maintain racks like that... I might have bothered with all mine if that had existed when I was in, But in any kind of inspection, it's always better to stick to the minimum!

So i did 10 years in the AF deployed 3 times and had quite a few TDYs as well. I got out as a E-5 . I had 4 full rows. only two ribbions of mine i felt like meant something the rest were stuff like "basic training ribbion, marksman, Good conduct ect.... They are pretty much giving all of it away. and Milly being the piece of shit that he is As you can imagine they give rank away like candy as well. I could have been a E6 but my last two years I stopped giving a shit essentially. The AF is "woke" and just like everything thats woke its shit

I got a few pieces of cabbage for just being there. I consider my good conduct medal a joke. I just never got caught. The only one I am truly proud of are my Dolphins. Submarine Warfare Insignia. I earned the right to wear my fish.

Like said. Its easy to build up a stack of pizza boxes. Unit Awards, etc. Depending on the dress class, you can wear all of them, or certain ones required. Generally, wearing all of them is laughed at unless youre at the ball trying to bag chicks

^That, right there is what I was going to say. That's also the 'leave rack.' That right there brought the funny, dude.

Milley is a woke piece of shit regardless of how many ribbons and bows he covers himself with.

And while I'm at it, General Mattis, for all the talk of him being this well read and brilliant warrior monk, is a gay political general. Note his complete silence during the horrendous fall of Afghanistan and the invasion/war in Ukraine after his lies about Trump.
