Question On Getting A Truck Titled

If it's not going to be driven for awhile, and I'm not getting a tag yet, to get the title sent off does the truck have to have insurance on it already?

I wouldn't send the title off yet either. Yes, there is a late fee, but there's also property tax if you transfer it.

I sold a Harley a few years back and the guy didn't turn in the title. I started getting bills for taxes on it. I contacted him and found out he had just put an old plate on it. Said he was too busy to get it done but immediately did so when he heard I was getting bills. It was a nightmare to get it squared away with the tax office. So by not turning in your title you are also putting the previous owner in a mess. Food for thought.

this was my first thought.
 
Ya I've had it happen to me before. I just don't want to get a tag yet. And wait on insurance. I want to get title ASAP.
