anybody ever heard of this kind of locker, or had any experience with one just wanting some real world knowledge. thanks

My understanding is that it's a Detroit EZ-lock (or whatever their name is for their lunch box locker) just in a different box.
Personal Experience with the Detroit EZ-Lock... crap when compared to Lock-rite or Aussie Locker. seems the metal was softer or something along those lines that causes the teeth to strip prematurely.

So, which of your lawn ornaments did you actually run one in?

Maybe you really meant someone elses TJ D35 that ran 36" Swamps on the asphalt for years before the "soft" metal gave way? Seems ALL lunchbox lockers have issues running on asphalt in DD's... not to mention his housing was *probably* bent then too! :flipoff2:

My *REAL* personal experience... Detroit EZ has been in 2 different NT D30 for 3 years (first axle Carver setup & I swapped it into the current 4.27 axle) with NO problems. It was minutely cheaper than a LR?AL at the time...

I didn't say I ran it in mine smart ass. I said my experience. and by my experience It doesn't mean your experience.

as for "years" on asphalt. try 3000 miles where as I had much more on my Lock-right. in the CJ. Daily Driven and driven to the trails and on the trails.. and yes that's when It was being used daily. how many times was the Moss driven in that 3 year period with your EZ? go suck a billy goats nuts. :flipoff2:

Get it straight slapnuts! You said... and I quote "PERSONAL experience". As you have NO personal experience with this locker, I intervened...

I know you're struggling to keep up here, but do the best you can... I was talking about Johns TJ with the "soft" EX locker here

I'd have to say MANY more miles than your lawn ornament has logged in the past 3 (coming up on 4) years!

Go back to literature 101 Jarhead, I did have an experience with the locker in question. I installed it, and yes properly installed before you go there, I rode around with it in, I drove it with it in, and I pulled it out when it PREMATURELY ripped to shreds in Johns Jeep. as I recall, you too were there to witness the shrapnel in his diff when we opened it. don't try to deny, I have a picture with your ugly mug in it at the time when we opened it.

ya, you're not THAT fast now Caver. :flipoff2:

amount of hours logged my CJ w/ Lock-right > the mossy during your possession:lol:

so was this personal experience in a dd or a trail rig. I trailer my truck to and from if it sees pavement it is no more then a 1/2 mile to the trail in harlan.

For what its worth I had a Detroit EZ locker in my WJ and it was complete TRASH! It passed the spin test with flying colors, and would unlock like it was designed to going around turns, but wouldn't remain locked when on the gas going in a straight line. The locker would disengage and pop, sending the back end sharply to the pass. side. Kept it in the jeep for all of about 48 hours, constantly telling myself once it broke in, it'd get better. :( no dice. Now I've got a Lock-rite in the front axle and no problems.

Also had a friend just swap an 8.8 into his ZJ. He installed an EZ locker and had the same problem.

something that folks don't take into consideration is locker behavior with a new set of tires on the street vs. an unevenly worn set of tires... you put a lunchbox in the rear and have one tire worn a bit and the other still with lots of tread (all those 1 wheel burnouts courtesy of your previous spider gears) and you will get jerks and get pushed to the side when accelerating at times as the locker struggles to overcome the torque building up by the tire tires trying to turn at slightly different rates (due to overall circumfrences being slightly off)

ez locker=junk i tried one in my 8.8 and it looked good and set up good but the right side just unlocked whenever it wanted dirt or pavement or whatever and sounded like someone was under their with a sledghamer .i think id sugest something different just cause all the complaints if heard of the ez locker
