a few from a short trip up to Boone today. I desperately need to get the jeep up and running. the subaru is fun, but without ground clearance, its useless in deep snow.

my buddy following in his forester. that and a tow rope was my saving grace today.

no ground clearance = high centering like crazy

I had a ton of fun, traction in the subaru is awesome, but the clearance is killer. Just gives me incentive to get the jeep finished!

^^^^^OR to jack up the subaru!lol!

I was up there today. I was trying to hike Grandfather and all the Parkway gates were closed:mad:

I have yet to make a trip up the BRP and it is on the top of my lists of things to do. Looks like you had a good time. Add adjustable air bags to the sub so you lift it a few inches for days like that LOL. I would liked to have gotten some snow here to play in.

i know the parkway doesn't get plowed/treated, but i thought it was always closed/gated off when it snows? or is it an enter at your own risk sort of thing? i've always thought it would be cool to be able to do an extended trip/drive on it in the snow.

That would be fun..I know when I was up there every gate in the Blowing Rock area of the parkway was closed. I took back roads to bypass the gates just to hit more gates..

i think its gated off most places, but if you're heading into boone from wilksboro on 421, there are no gates or anything there. I'm not sure how they'd feel about us being on the parkway, but there were a few cars out there that day when we went.
