Quick XJ rear door mod, pretty cool

sorry no pictures but: guys and gals. Awesome door mod for those with 4 Door XJs in case you haven't thought of this: If your really really really ANNOYED with the rear doors for your wife/kids/friends getting in or just putting stuff back there....fuss no more. cut the little ears off the hinges that stop them and holy cow...what do ya know...the doors open past 90degree angle and you could fit a cow in there now (not being rude here). doesn't hit front door or anything and very easy and simple to do..took me 10 minutes both sides with grinder to grind away at the little ears and voila!! enjoy. as many of these things i've owned and always hated this about the rear doors and wondered so many years how to improve this. Hey, if you stare at something long enough you eventually come up with something and I did, probably nothing too impressive but for me it was a huge breakthrough!!

I once took a set of s10 blazer tire carriers and made XJ tube doors out of them. I'll see if I can dig up a pic. Cost me $7 each at a pull a part and 20 minutes with a welder.

i bet that would make easy tube doors since they are in shape already. cool!!!
