Anyone have any experience with having their radiator leaks brazed shut? My dumbass put a taller fan hub than stock on with a 3 core all metal (brand new I will add) radiator and happened to rip into about 3 rows.... :handed:

I'm in Mooresville and was looking at Art's Radiator Repair Service in Salisbury. I'm hoping they can pull everything out and braze it shut for a reasonable price because this thing is brand spanking new.

Here's a picture of the damage:

Is this just as easy to fix on an aluminum rad? i jut got two for free, but they both have a pinhole leak or something, I am told. Otherwise in perfect shape.

Radiator repair is easier than doing an oil change. The hardest part is taking out the radiator. Once you have it out, empty it, then crimp the damaged area closed and use a propane torch with plumbing solder to seal it.

If there's *ANY* question, have the rad shop boil them out (removes ALL the crud... that could be concealing bad spots/leaks) & then pressure test them. I had a couple done that were in use, but once pressure tested (low PSI compressed air is attached with the rad in container of water) and they both looked like aquarium aerators! (like Alka-Selzer)

Also an option, but if your skills are unknown...

Okay so the radiator is out. I noticed that when the hub grabbed the metal strap it pinched the top and bottom runners together a little bit, sandwiching the first two rows on the top and bottom down/upward a slight bit. The top and bottom have moved towards each other maybe a quarter of an inch... Does anyone thing that did any damage to the top/bottom rows?

I hope not but I'm going to drop it off at Bob Ware's Radiator in Salisbury tomorrow. Hopefully they will pressure test it to make sure. I'll try and snap some more shots of the damage.
