Howdy. I am wondering how different CJ and YJ radiators are? I know CJs came with the 304 V8, but did they have a special radiator for those, as opposed to the I6s? Would a YJ radiator be able to cool a V8? Were there different options there also?
Thanks,

I order a 3 core YJ radiator form a local shop when I installed my 360 and have had no issues.

Just use the cj 304 one. It works with my 360.

You muppet! We've been over this repeatedly on the JJCA forum!

Since you know my tendancies to be... uh, "thrifty", I can safely say this is one area you do NOT want to cheap out on! I fought various leaks & overheating issues for YEARS before buying new. Quit trying to "save a buck", it'll cost you double in the long run anyway! BTDT

Pony up the coin ($180) for an ALL metal HD 3core CJ radiator and have your Bullnose brackets sweated on it... outside of the brackets, the radiators dimensions are identical between the BN & CJ (when comparing 2core-2core & 3core-3core)

Yeah, my thrifty side keeps me searching for that bargain.
:)
Didn't you get yours at a local radiator shop? Is that better than buying one from Advance Auto or something?
Is aluminum really that much better than copper?
I'm sure metal is definitely better than plastic...

A lot of "depends" on this
When I put the 360 in my Heep, I used the same radiator, 3 core, no issues
That one finally got so many holes in it, Leslie bought me another one for "Happy Friday"

3DKrawler on here has a stock YJ radiator in his Jeep with a small block Cheby. He did have cooling issues until he put the Taurus Fan in it. Now, it cools like it should.

As far as Aluminum vs Copper vs plastic
I don't like the plastic ones at all. just the sound of it says poor quality to me.
In a stock built engine Copper is fine.
Biggest difference with the aluminum ones I have seen is they flow better and don't get stopped up as easy.
I would love to have one, but as long as mine keeps my engine temp where it should be, I won't replace it.

I'm guessing he will be bolting it directly to a CJ or YJ grille, not having the brackets sweated...:flipoff2:

There are a few companies on Ebay that sell an HD CJ radiator for around $150 shipped.
