After moving from the Mooresville area to Charleston SC only 3 months ago, my employer has decided I would better serve them back in the great state of North Carolina. I have been given the option to either work out of the Wilmington office or the Raleigh office. I had only lived in the Mooresville/Charlotte area for a couple of years and never ventured to either Raleigh or Wilmington.

What say you? Which would you recommend? I am married and have 3 children, all homeschooled so school districts dont matter. As for interests, anything outdoors(hunting, fishing, atv's, Jeeps,...). Wife likes to shop, and kids are happy as long as they are outside(big yard).

Wilmington, if you like the coast.

Born and raised in Raleigh, so I'm biased. That being said, there's something for everyone in Raleigh. That, and you're closer to wheeling here than in Wilmington.

I more or less grew up in Wilmington (from age 10 - 18) and still have family there, so I visit quite often. That being said, I could never live there again and actually prefer Raleigh.

Lived up here in Raleigh for the past year. Moved here from the coast (Havelock). Raleigh is great...plenty of shopping...kind of central if you want to venture to the mountains/coast/VA/SC...

Wilmington is great too though. Not sure how you deal with hurricanes, but I think usually get hit kinda roughly.

Raliegh puts you in the middle of the state more. Makes it easier to head west to trails or east to the each. Also I would say that Raleigh-Durham has a more to offer. I would ry to get into one of the towns on the outside of town though. Good luck.
