ok its a 97 ram 1500 with the 360. so far i have replaced pcv,pcv hose,breather,plugs,wire,cap/rotor. this is the problam i am having:

when on the highway or anywhere going about 70-80mph the rpms are at 1500-2000. when im going up a hill its fine, when i have my foot off the gas and the rpms are dropped its fine, when im comming down a slight slope with my foot barely on the gas at 1500-2000rpm it starts missing/skipping/sputtering/jerking.... and ideas????? it pulls, starts, idles fine

my roommates ram (1500, 360) was doing something similar. it would jerk, sputter, rev super high and lose power at random times while driving. so far his mechanic hasnt been able to figure it out.

it doesnt rev high. its weird as shit. im guessing it a relay or sensor maybe fuel system related. every time i get the codes checked its multiple spark misfire witch usealy means it needs a tune up but i did all the ignition part of a tune up.

anyone have any other ideas with this??

how about some C4? does anyone have a some C4 diagnostics material? :kaioken:

Try pulling the oil fill cap off after you let idle for a few mins. If you hear a rush of vaccum, pull the intake off, Dodge had alot of problems with a lower plenum pan on the bottom of the intake the blow the gasket. Just and idea.

good idea also think maybe the coolant temp sensor

could be the coil, or moisture in the distrubuter. i would replace the coil also and spray wd40 or equivilent in the distributer and blow it out with compressed air... maybe a couple times if it helps at all.

Is it loosing any coolant or oil?, as said previously check the intake plenum gasket, lots of TSB's on that. Also, the magnum motors are bad about cracking the heads and leaking coolant into the cylinder causing a misfire

Yep Id say plenum gasket too. I had the same prob on my old dodge. The plenum gasket was bad which let oil into the vacuum system and then through the charcoal canister to the fuel tank. I had to clean all the injectors and replace the lower plenum gasket.

pulled the oil fill cap off and didnt change nething. still doing it like clock work... at highway speeds with foot light on the gas around 2000rpm.

throwing a multi cyl misfire code but i have changed plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, coil.

it accelerates fine.
