From the thread about Daniel trail block off.

They were sitting in them. First, a Jeep broke a front axle and had to be towed up, then 2 trucks later, another at the top ran out of gas, so the line backed up with nowhere to go.

RAN OUT OF GAS??? AT URE???

You have to go out on Empty to run out of gas there. You should be brought back to the Outpost and publicly flogged for this kind of crap. you know you're going to end up off camber which could leave your fuel pick up starving with anything less than 1/2-1/3 tank.

Make me wonder how many of you go out on the trails there with 1/4 tank or less?

Never under 1/2 but about 3/4+ tank when I go.

A 100% full tank does worry me a bit just in case a nice rock decides to take a few of those full capacity gallons away from me or an off camber run dumps some fuel out of the filler neck.

Ive gone out to Uwharrie with 1/4 tank... but usually I fill up at the outpost or before the day begins for most wheeling trips lol. Never ran out of gas. Thats pretty epic.

Where is this original thread? Sounds like a good laugh.

I have a roll over valve and a fuel cell and I try to keep it full at the start of the day. With an electric fuel pump, I can share if need be.

Two years ago I was out in Harlan with some friends. I broke my junk on day one. Day two I rode with my buddy in his Sammi. I asked if he filled up with gas when we left camp. He said, no but we had plenty. Well we didn't... We happened upon a side by side with two gallons 1.5 hrs into the walk. I brow beat him for the 3 hrs for the round trip walk.

To further piss me off the other guys we were with never looked behind them and were asleep in chairs by the campfire when we got back :flipoff:

I sit on top of my gas tank and it holds only 10 gallons.I try to keep it at 2/3rds filled when I start on sat. morning and it will last all day but depending on how hard I push that flat head engine flogging the rain berms and generally enjoying myself dictates a stop the next morning for more gas.I keep 3 gallons in my gerry can at all times.

Never gone out with less than a half tank, and I bring 2 5 gal cans to make sure that thirsty mopar always has juice.

Now that does suck, I would not be friendly back at camp when all my buddies had left my ass in the woods.

I could imagine running out of gas at Harlan would suck. This is just one of the main reason you should have an extra Jerry can in the back for those just incase moments or you pull a dumbass and forget to fill up.

Luckily in this instance, another truck in their group had a Jerry can with gas in it. I think it just took 'em a while to realize the problem was no gas....

I'd be super pissed too. That is basic trail riding etiquette I learned when riding dirt bikes. Always make sure the guy behind you is still there.

I always top off the tank in my Sami before going wheeling.

I can't be the only one that gets tired of the onslaught of Uwharrie complainfest threads starting every April. I'd rather be stuck behind that guy than the dumbass that just destroyed his stock d35 on 37's.

Thats only in heavy rigs like an F350. D35's are fine up to 42's on an XJ.

No, the number in the axle name is the biggest tire that you can run on it. So D35 is good to 35", D44 to 44", D60 to 60", etc.

That's the messed up thing about Jeeps, they put a D30 in the front (???), and a D35 or D44 in the back. Stupid.
