I've always thought central and South America had some of the most beautiful countryside, it's so sad the land is full of poverty and the governments are usually beyond corrupt...

Ecuador doesn't really have corruption as much as a certain instability between the military and politicians. Not long after I came home, there was almost a coup and the president was holed up in his mansion for a couple of weeks.

The people are very friendly and hospitable, very unlike Brazil and Columbia. We were in the mountains as high as 14K feet. It was breathtaking.
I would take their honest, if troubled, political system over our lies any day. I have friends down there, if I thought I could be really content I would consider moving.
