Random pic thread.

Incorrect lift points, lower control arm for the front, as far back as you can reach for the rear, I would be pissed! I would be in the lot picking out a new truck, put my bed, and boxes on it, let them figure out who to fire for that rookie mistake, and have their insurance pick up the bill. That truck looks like it works for living!

I'd honestly like a very close examination of that failure.....for the mechanical, metallurgical, and wtf reasons...I completely agree with that face.

The frame section appears to have failed (ripped?) at the stress riser where that crossmember joins the rails (or maybe from where one of the bed mount brackets is attached), probably because the frame rail was loaded on the edge of the lift adapter right below that point. The frame rail flange has obviously buckled as well, so it was probably just a really bad place to load the frame rail in compression (reverse bending) instead of the tension. It's likely the normal case of chicken-or-egg; did the frame web rip first at the crossmember or bed bracket, causing the lower flange to buckle, or did the lower flange buckle and then cause the frame web to rip?

That's the interesting part, they likely just happened to find the worst spot to load the frame in bending at a single point.

Yep, I just would want to see any possible flaws or coincidental damage caused by the bed install. But having read the post I figure it's going to be an ugly pissing contest for the root cause. Outside playing couch quarterback the dealer needs to step up and admit to improper loading......and the mechanic need to go change his shorts.

I'm still trying to figure out why the fire dept is there? I find it funny that whenever people have an emergency, of ANY sort, they call the fire dept. I can't begin to tell you the types of calls I've been on where I thought in the back of my head, "what exactly qualifies US to remedy this situation?" Firemen are expected to be experts at any type of "emergency". Jokes on you fukkers, we're just regular folks who happen to volunteer
BUT, we got this little strap. Maybe we can pull it back together!

I'm going to be that guy and call B.S. on this one.......
That truck would have fallen off the lift way before it was that high.....
I disagree. I've gotten stuff pretty far forward on my lift and had it pretty off balance before it actually didn't lift the other end.. depends if those boxes were full or not but I think the frame was weak at that point as it wasn't ever intended to support the weight of the rear of the truck right there.

What's with the unopened beer? And the can of dip in her right pocket, no "skoal ring" must be new jeans.

Cigarette ain’t lit either. Little fella doesn’t have a bottle with Mountain Dew in it like he should. Psh, my SC distant relatives would put them to shame. Hell, my grandparents still had an outhouse when I was a kid , and my grandmother dipped honeybee snuff till the day she died. Grandpa chewed redman like real man should. House was heated with a fireplace, no ac, and about 4,000 cats running around everywhere. Chicken coupe outback with 2 big fields of vegetables planted to eat, not for selling. Hardcore folks. Grandma watched WWF and WCW wrestling and took it seriously. Don’t bad mouth rock and roll express or you’d get a tongue lashing. Good old folks.

As the Facebook story went and unfolded. Apparently the owner had the bed put on and it apparently was close to gvwr with it and all the loading with it was drastically over weight. Apparently the owner got upset that the dealer said to contact your insurance. Allegedly the dealers put the lift on correct but the frame was extremely weakened from the gross overloading and just gave out. Going the insurance route sounds way smarter than a dealers QA who is going to only see an overused abused frame - hence the dealer said to claim it on insurance, and here we are with the guy crying cause the dealer isn’t giving him a brand new 2018 truck because of the incident. Lol. Smh.

I believe those are called "props".

Not by itself .What did you do?
My GF doesn't think sometimes. She turned the stove on to cook something and just walked off and forgot about it. Then she said "oh no my water", talking about a pot of water. I said fuck the water the house almost caught fire. Burned the microwave up and melted part of the cabinet door. The microwave had flames inside of the bottom part, I had to throw a glass of water up in it to put it out.
