The DOT # tracks back to Hamilton Towing in South Bend In

I dont know if hydraulic lift tandems go back that far - but they've existed in the dump world for a long time of course.

Welp AI taught me something.....

Lift axles, in general, were in use by the
early 1940s, initially utilizing mechanical devices before quickly transitioning to hydraulic systems.
Regarding specific advancements in tandem axle technology:

1957: The liftable tandem drive axle was invented by Finnish truck manufacturer Vanajan Autotehdas.
Early 1960s: Non-ground bearing hydraulic detachable gooseneck trailers, which utilize advanced hydraulic lifting/lowering systems, were introduced around 1962.
Modern Hydraulic/Air Lift: While early systems were hydraulic, modern, common, computer-controlled "airlift" axles that automatically lower when weight limits are reached became standard in later years, often referred to as "pusher" or "tag"

Man, you are quite the sleuth. I just thought it was a pretty vintage truck so I posted. Kinda cool info.

I got forced into braces. Yes my parents and supposedly the ortho knew best. I hated and revolted every minute of the whole mess. I couldn't understand why I needed all the discomfort and visits when my smile suited my brain just fine. I was an early teen but hated the whole process.

Done over I wish it was my adult decision and never heard about the financial burden, visits, and all the damn schedule shuffling or headaches involved.

Seeded a deep hatred for anything related to my teeth.
