Does whipping a man's ass carry the same lesson it used to?

My thoughts on the matter are... no, no it does not. When I grew up, you had an altercation and you settled it. Somebody toted an ass whoopin' and walked away with the mindset of, "I'll think twice before saying that again".

My thoughts today are that the other person can't handle that. They take to the internet to play the victim and give out excuses as to why said whoopin' occurred. "It was unprovoked", "he suckered punched me", "I love Joe Biden ".

Unfortunately, in some cases guns get involved. Sore losers I say. I'm not talking bullies and prolonged verbal/mental abuse either. I think something changed and it's probably the parents fault or the lack of parenting. Same thing.

This concludes thoughts from the mower.

Backyard boxing matches used to be the way to make friends.
Duke it out, buy a round of beers and have a lifetime of respect for that person.
The internet destroyed that.

IDK but hanging out with you i figured there has been a few times someone was about ready to try and give us an ass whoopin'..... ya we probably deserved getting our ass kicked that night in harlan
Nah, we caused no problems and only came for the fun times. Had they told us to kick rocks we would have left.

Guy that turned out to be one my best friends in high school pulled a knife on me and I got it away from him and beat his ass. I was actually in whitey tighties and socks, changing out after gym class when he came at me with that big ole folder. Somehow I managed to strip it away from him with only a fairly minor cut down the inside of my forearm. I threw it over the wall into the boiler room and told him we were going to do this like men! He swung on me and barely connected the side of my head which drove me into kind of a rage and we fought until he didn't get back up and we both were bruised and bloody. Me still in my undies but having lost one sock. We got pulled into the principals office leaving the locker room and he didn't say a word and neither did I. The next day he walked up and apologized saying I had a hell of a punch and he would rather be with me than against me. We hung out together alot after that. :dumbass:

I went to a party in the woods one night. Me and some "fun guys" decided to hang out that evening. It must have been somewhere near two or three in the morning when this guy I knew rolled in on us blasting Rage Against the Machine. We all hung out by the fire when he brought up something I had said two years prior.

*Flashback* A new girl came to school from Florida and she was hot. I mean damn hot. The teacher said this is so-and-so (Rachel?) and she's moved here from Florida. Me with my superior wit said, "How 'bout you go back". It garnered a few giggles and that was that.

Back at the fire, everyone had moved on to bed and it was just me and him. Now Gray and her dated for two years but they had broken up. He eventually asked if I remember saying what I said back then. I said I did and followed it up with an apology. Something along the lines of being a dumbass and that I shouldn't have said what I did. With that he said, "you should have lied". He then steps across the fire and drills me right in the face. I was in really no shape to fight under my current state so I basically just took it. He got done and his friend exited his truck and walked over to ask if I was OK. I said yes and that was that.

A few more years down the road I was at a local bar and guess who I see? Ole Gray and he comes up with his hand stuck out. I shook it and we both had a laugh. He even bought me a beer. He apologized and I did too...again. Lesson learned. I think that was the only fight I ever got into in high school. I had two more in college but one was friendly fire so that may not count.

Lesson learned.
BULL SHIT

i quote
Nick- "look at that piece of shit mustang i bet that guy would choke on one"
Logan- "your gonna get our ass beat for saying shit like that in public"
Nick- " maybe"

also i cant say anything after talking to you on the CB as you roll by the turtled samari and i say isnt that the same jack ass that said he can go anywhere we go little did i know you had your cb ran through the speakers....

The lesson was not to say it loud enough so they could hear it. It'll still come out but depending on the conditions will dictate if they hear it. The CB thing is rolled up into the "shit happens" category. I can't recall anyone spinning around with a "What did you say?" in a good while.

Wasn’t Gray Campbell was it?

To the original question...I was a fighter, and I specifically remember elementary school and middle school, you fought on the playground or back in the woods...and that settled things. High school though, seemed 'retribution', getting jumped, etc really became a thing. So depends how far back you're talking. Hell...according to the documentary 'Tombstone', Billy Bob Thorton was given an opportunity to skin his smoke wagon, got bitch slapped, then tried to gun down Wyatt Earp...so bitchassness has been around a while. I think it's just become more acceptable to be a spineless chicken shit and play the victim...and feel vindicated in doing so. Even suggesting something as barbaric as fighting, is nothing but toxic alpha masculinity.

Or maybe it just gets more attention because everyone has a platform.
Which isnt necessarily a bad thing when they are shining the light on real bad shit. I dont see another mass sexual misconduct case startign today and lasting decades due to social media and someone saying something.

But yeah people are softer too. And more likely to bring a gun to school for payback it seems

Sure...if there's legit bad shit going on, absolutely. I didn't think that was the tone of this thread, and I was geared more toward settling disputes. Example, this week my 4yo knocked the shit out of one of her pretty good friends in class. It was 'centers time', the friend was pinching my kids hand, pulling her fingers, etc. According to both children, my daughter asked him to stop. My daughter punched him in the stomach, then went and got a teacher. The other parents were cool with it, saw their kid as the instigator and disciplined their kid for not keeping his hands to himself. There are about 87 different ways that could have gone, and gone extremely wrong. If that's another little girl, or a punch to the face or a set of parents that feel their kid was victimized, or a public school setting, etc etc. But I feel any kid in my daughter's scenario is 110% in the right to absolutely beat the shit out of anyone else that's making them uncomfortable or doing something they don't want them to do. Scares me to death to think what'll happen when she's in high school and some dude pops her bra strap or smacks her ass in the hallway or drops something down a whale tail/cleavage...I can see the headlines now 'She's been training with her dad since she was 3'. Local school system, you throw the first punch, you walk out in hand cuffs and are suspended for at least 365 days...if you're the recipient, and throw a punch chances are good your fate is the same. That alone speaks volumes to me.

Yes, yes it is
Me and Gray worked and partied together for the better part of 13 years. All I can say is you must have hit a nerve cause no matter how much or what we were getting a buzz off of I’ve never gotten him ready to fight. Were you talking shit about Samantha?

Maybe my post came off totally wrong.
Its possible Im brain fried.

I was trying to say maybe "everyone is a victim quicker" because everyone has a platform. Which is a bad thing, to me - hence why I dont do social media.
Then I was pivoting my thought to say maybe it isnt so bad in cases of really bad shit. And my thoughts kinda merged

Oooooooohhh...possible I’m brain fried and completely misinterpreted...I challenge you to a gentleman’s quarrel to settle this. First to the bottom of a bottle of McKenna.

I don't think so. It was high school. She had blonde hair and was from Florida. I thought it was Rachel.

You're crazy man. Anyone that pulls a knife on me, Im thinking they are gonna kill me. If they don't kill me, then they are dead meat, no questions asked. No normal person that needs to be walking at in public does that . That's psychopath stuff. Friends would be the least of his worries.

When I'm backed in a corner it's fight or f#*k and he just wasn't that cute.
